4.5K Wide Screen recording (4480 × 1920 pixels) mode is not yet supported in Final Cut Pro and Color, in order to work with it you have to transcode to another codec. This workflow explains how to: transcode the R3D files to 720p prores LT with Clipfinder 2.2, editing in FCP, importing the FCP XML into Clipfinder 2.2, transcode only the R3D files used for the editing to 2K Wide screen prores 4444, import Clipfinder XML into FCP, send to Color. This kind of workflow takes advantage of the new color science. It works also for other Red recording modes.
